My Skates and I

I always know I wanted to skate, swim, cycle, play the piano and guitar. When I was 14, I learnt to cycle by peddling an old worn out bicycle on the college track behind my residence round after round, until I learnt to somewhat handle the two-wheeler.

I wasn’t given the opportunity to indulge in diverse hobbies when I was young, and swimming / ballet / music etc lessons were a luxury that wasn’t available to me. If anything, my non-privileges always motivate me to realize what I want in life.

This June, I took on informal swimming lessons; I’m still at the basics. While at it, I got myself a tan (finally). Beautiful. Away from the waters, I added pair of K2 inline skates to my possessions and inline skating becomes one of the main courses on my weekly menu. I’m not skating beautifully but I can definitely hold my own on wheels, tho' slopes (for now) remain treacherous terrains to be avoided at all costs. After all I fell only once… ok, twice, after calculating the fall where I was literally dragged down by a reckless skating companion whose philosophy in life is, most unfortunately, “united we fall”. *knn*

But all in all, it’s a beautiful summer. I just wouldn’t settle for anything less.
