Day 1: The Seminoles' Pride

After more than 24 hours of air and land journey, I'm now in Tallahassee, FL. It's cool here, literally, albeit with a much lower level of humility than that in Singapore. My contact lens dry easily, and for the first time in a long long while, my lips crack. Arghs.

Here in the US of A, every Saturday is College Game Day. Colleges (universities) within the same state, and/or from different states compete in stadiums full of highly charged supporters decked in their college colours and extremely zealous and vocal in their support for their respective teams. Together with the mascots, marching bands and cheerleaders, the atmosphere is just energizing.

Today I'd my first taste of live competitive varsity games of the current season: the American Football match between FSU and Colorado Uni. The former was a national winner, which prob accounted for the influx of people coming in from other states to see the game, as well as the apparant pride of the FSU students of their home team. I was more than a little more memerized by their mascot (a Red Indian on a real horse galloping across the field at half time, and by the sideline during the game) and their double teams of cheerleaders on opposite sides of the stadium. The chio-bus were almost exactly as what I read in teenage novels and saw on tv/movies. Besides the distinct shorter-than-short skirts and body hugging tops, the girls' choreographric moves were impressive.
