I never thought anyone would comment that about me.

I could still remember the first time my eyes got special attention from a girlfriend; it was at my class chalet at Sentosa. She told Monet, who just got together with me, that one of my most attractive physical attribute were my eyes. I was surprised and flattered but I just laughed it off.

When I was younger, I used to wish I had bigger eyes, like that of the characters in Japanese anime. Big eyes are easily stunning and endearing. Just look at the famous and popular artistes yesteryears and today. Most possess attractive eyes, coupled with exquisite double eyelids and long lashes, all of which I do not have the luxury of possessing.

But today, I can't help but feel generously proud of my eyes. They may not be the most gorgeous pair around in a 100-miles radius but they allow me to see both the tangible beauty in nature – the sky, the sea, the flora and fauna – and the intangible beauty in people, especially that in my loved ones and friends. And that’s all I need to feel blessed in life.

Thank God for my “almond shaped works of beauty”. *smile*
